Mailbox Repair

Mailbox Repair Information

MAILBOX INFO

All of the mailboxes in the community are supplied by the same manufacturer as the sign posts and streetlights and were originally painted with the same matching Verde Green patina finish. Section 2.1.13 of the community’s Architectural and Landscape Guidelines states: “All mailboxes and newspaper boxes must be of a standard color, size and design as approved by the ACC or as provided by Crescent Resources, Inc., and may be installed only in a location approved by the ACC. Mailboxes and house numbers attached to them shall at all times be maintained by the owner to the exact standard in a neat and attractive condition and to a suitable state of repair.”

Property owners may use a contractor of their choice to paint their mailbox but are encouraged to check for any known contractors. Because neighbors may have used a different contractor for their mailboxes and the Verde Green patina finish tends to vary, owners are asked to use the nearest streetlight or sign post as the standard color to match.  Below is an example of the appropriate finish and one that is not.  Also, please ensure the mailbox post is not leaning.
Painting:

In order to accomplish the appropriate finish, first apply a base coat of gloss black oil-based enamel paint. The green accent finish top coat for the patina is a gloss enamel paint color mixed to match the original Verde Green and applied in an artistic manner to achieve the appropriate appearance. There is a job file at the Cornelius Sherwin Williams branch under “Peninsula Club Mailboxes”.
The correct color is Verde Green, NOT Peninsula Green.

 Mailbox Numbers:

The original mailbox numbers are slightly different from those that are now being supplied by Signs on Lake Norman.  The current mailbox numbers are 2.92" tall, Goudy Old Style Bold, Gold Unical 550 vinyl.  Please use this slightly revised version for replacement numbers which can be purchased at Signs on Lake Norman.  The contact is Matt Bowen 704-221-7643 or signsonlkn@yahoo.com.
